4 Days Way Kambas National Park

Day 1     Bandar Lampung – Way Kambas / 3 hrs drive
Arrive at the airport of Bandar Lampung with flight… at…
You will be fetched by driver and transferred to Way Kambas National Park. This is part of the larger protected area known as Way Kambas National Park. The park comprises an area of 130,000 ha in Lampung province, south Sumatra. It contains a variety of lowland and coastal habitats, including one of the largest freshwater swamp forests in Sumatra. Arrive in Tri Datu, a local village beside the gate of Way Kambas National Park.
3 overnight stays in Satwa Elephant Ecolodge (simple)

Day 2     Boat trip to Kali Biru & Elephant centre

Very early in the morning you start drive to Way Kanan Camp which is around 12 km from your lodge. You drive through the small road in the national park. There is opportunity to see wild animals on the way such as; wild deer, pigs, kind of unique birds, wild cat, monkeys or even wild Elephants. After 45 minutes drive, you will arrive at the camp where you prepare a boat for trip to Kali Biru. During boat trip you have chance to see kind of birds, monkeys, crocodile and any other wild animals. The boat trip will take around 3 hrs. You can also stop at the forest where you can do light trek to the jungle. After the boat trip you return to your lodge.
In the afternoon you visit the Elephant Conservation Centre (ECC) which has been established in the 1980s. The elephants in the centre have been domesticated and used for heavy work, ecotourism, patrol and breeding. Elephant attraction could be available to see on special day during long holidays (optional). You may also enjoy nice coconut drinks after you have seen the Elephants.
Return to your lodge for overnight stay

Day 3     Bird Watching & villager’s livelihood
Morning activity today is bird watching. Best time to see wild and unique birds is in the early morning. You drive around 5 km, then you continue by walk until Way Kanan camp (your car will drive follow behind you around 100 – 150 m). You will enjoy the natural atmosphere of the forest with many songs of birds. It is important to bring binocular when you found the endemic birds of this park. Arrive in the camp then you return to your lodge. The activity will be in 3 hrs.
The rest is free program. You may take a nice walk around the village to see the villager’s livelihood. If available you can visit the rice filed and join with the villagers to plant the paddy sheets.

Day 4     Way Kanan – Bandar Lampung airport / 3 hrs drive
Today you will be transfer to the airport of Bandar Lampung for catch your flight to next destination. End of your 4 days Way Kambas National Park tour with us.

1. Satwa Elephant Ecolodge
This is the best accommodation which located near the entrance of Way Kambas National Park (around 500 m). Satwa Elephant Ecolodge is only a short walk of 500 metres from the Park entrance, adjoining a pleasant rural village. Employment and locally purchased goods by the Ecolodge significantly help the village and give the local people employment.
Set in an extensive walled garden full of tropical fruit trees there are four cottages each with spacious rooms sleeping up to four people with spring beds, ceiling fans, hot water showers and western toilets. There is a desk and computer power point and a verandah and comfortable chairs. All guest cottages, facilities, some perimeter lighting and the office are powered by renewable solar energy. The windows are fully screened. In a delightful open restaurant, meals give a taste of Indonesian recipes and ingredients, with a full western breakfast to start the day, or a picnic box.

2. Transport
Please note available transports based on minibus/van such as: Avanza/Innova/Xenia/Panther (maximum for 3 persons per car).

3. Local guide
Local guide speaks basic in English and not fluently. You need to speak slow, clear and bring a dictionary to avoid misunderstanding. But they know the condition of the national park very well as they are experienced.
